Kumi Yamashita is one of our favorite artists. This contemporary artist from Japan creates extremely realistic portraits that consist out of a complex network of nails and a single thread that is carefully wrapped around each nail. The artist confessed that it usually takes around two months to complete each portrait.

However, Kumi’s talents don’t end there. She is known to play with light and shadow. Those manipulations result in a truly remarkable shadow art that deserves a round of applause.
