The First Trailer For Marvel’s The Defenders Is Out (And It’s Great)

May 3, 2017

Netflix has just released the trailer for their upcoming series The Defenders that is going to unite the Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Danny Rand a.k.a. Iron Fist (Finn Jones).  into a team Avengers-style. The trailer looks super great as it sets up the story of heroes meet and instantly becoming best buds (not really). Apparently, we are going to see the already classic superhero trope followed once again – they are going to punch each other for a bit and then they’re mates (Avengers, BvS and so on).

I have to say that I’ve got high hopes for these poor man’s Avengers. It is going be extremely interesting to see them save New York and defeat their own street-level villains. Also, it was amazing to see Luke Cage get punched in the face by Iron Fist considering that both of these characters are practically BFFs in comic books. Another aspect that benefits the show is that it is only 8 episodes (unlike the rest of Marvel-Netflix series, which are 13 episodes). It means that there aren’t going to be any filler episodes (hopefully) and Netflix will be able to channel that 13-episodes budget into higher quality action, VFX and props. Check out the fill trailer below:

The cast of Marvel’s The Defenders also includes Elodie Yung (Elektra), Glenn (Stick), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse), Simone Missick (Misty Knight) and Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing).

The show premieres on Netflix on August 18, 2017.
