Annihilation Movie Trailer: Looks Like a Creepier Version of Arrival (And It’s Good)

Date

October 3, 2017

Annihilation is probably one of the most anticipated films of the year. Why? Because it is directed by the same person who wrote and directed Ex Machina – filmmaker Alex Garland. As you might remember, Ex Machina was one of the most successful movies of 2015, not only was it thrilling and compelling, but it also was critically acclaimed too! It was an incredibly tense Sci-Fi drama and it looks like the second directorial experience of Ex Machina helmer is going to be even more captivating and haunting. The movie is based on a best-selling novel by Jeff Vandermeer about the 12th expedition into a bizarre Area X where all kinds of crazy things happened to previous explorers, including mass suicide and collective insanity.

For the live action adaptation, Alex Garland has assembled a fantastic cast that includes Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Oscar Isaac. Yep, Poe Dameron and Padme Amidala are in the same movie about aliens (?). We don’t yet have a specific release date but the movie won’t be coming until 2018. Check out the official trailer below:
